Research Fellow in Scientific Computing and Numerical Analysis
Monash University

School of Mathematics

Closing date: 11th March 2020

The School of Mathematics at Monash University invites applicants for the position of Research Fellow to work on a project in Scientific Computing and Numerical Analysis.

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of Prof Santiago Badia in one of the research topics of his group, which are related to the numerical approximation of partial differential equations (PDEs). Current lines of research include: the design of variational spacetime nonlinear approximations of PDEs on unfitted meshes on 4D integration meshes; deep ReLU networks for the discretisation of PDEs on complex domains; truly nonlinear preconditioners for PDEs relying on machine learning compression algorithms; PDE-constrained inverse problems and uncertainty quantification on complex geometries.

Applicants must have a PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a related field, with a strong background in numerical methods for partial differential equations.

Depending on the experience level of the candidate, this role may be filled at Level A or Level B. Please refer to the position description attached to the advertisement for different levels.

This role is a two year full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Applications must be made via the Monash website: http://careers.pageuppeople.com/513/cw/en/job/602667/research-fellow-in-scientific-computing-and-numerical-analysis.
