Reporting to the Academic Manager, the Senior Tutor is part of the Mathematics and Statistics Learning Centre (MSLC) team. The MSLC is committed to providing a Tutorial program of the highest quality to all students studying Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne, and a range of teaching related services to the School of Mathematics and Statistics.

The role of Senior Tutor involves delivering tutorials and computer laboratory classes within the undergraduate program, including the marking of assignments and examinations, and assisting with the preparation of course material. The incumbent may also have an opportunity to give lectures and to coordinate subjects.

The Senior Tutor will also assist with the assessment of student qualifications for the purpose of determining eligibility for enrolment in degree programs and subjects, as well as for the purpose of determining eligibility for advanced standing.

In addition to the above, the Senior Tutor will assist with the overall management of the tutorial program of the School. This involves coordination of the tutorials and computer laboratory classes within the undergraduate and postgraduate programs, assisting with the recruitment, allocation and day-to-day management of sessional teaching staff, timetabling of classes and management of systems used to record student performance.

The Senior Tutor will contribute to teaching innovation in the School and will undertake research and/or scholarship in tertiary scholarship of mathematics and statistics education. They may also undertake research in an area of the mathematical sciences.
