Teaching and Learning Development Opportunities and Support

Resources for Online Teaching

The Standing Committee has compiled a list of resources that are useful in preparing online courses. These resources might help as we continue to adapt to new learning environments brought about by COVID-19.

If you have additions sites/resources you have found useful please let us know (dmd@maths.uq.edu.au") and we will include them.

Online Professional Development Unit

The Standing Committee coordinates the online professional development unit Effective Teaching, Effective Learning in the Quantitative Disciplines. The unit was developed under an ALTC grant, by a project team of mathematicians, and is now in its seventh year.

The unit is available free to AustMS and reciprocal members. The modules are available for all to view. The unit is suitable both for tutors and lecturers. By formally enrolling and completing three assessment tasks, participants can receive a certificate of completion. Some participants have negotiated with their home institution to count this towards required teaching-and-learning training.

For more information, visit the unit website: www.austms.org.au/Professional+Development+Unit

AustMS/AMSI Teaching Seminar Series

The AustMS/AMSI Teaching Seminar Series is a nation-wide seminar series featuring talks and discussions about any matters related to the teaching of the mathematical sciences in universities. The seminars are held online using Zoom videoconferencing software, allowing broad access by Australian academics.
