Cheryl E. Praeger Travel and Anne Penfold Street Awards

The 11th round of the AustMS WIMSIG Cheryl E. Praeger Travel Awards and Anne Penfold Street Awards is now open and will close on October 1, 2019.

The Cheryl E. Praeger Travel Awards are designed to provide full or partial support for Australian female mathematicians to attend conferences or to visit collaborators.

The Anne Penfold Street Awards provide additional financial support to Australian mathematicians, regardless of gender, for their caring responsibilities while they travel for conferences or research visits to collaborators. Also note that conference organisers may apply for Anne Penfold Street Awards.

Women in STEM Database

The Australian Academy of Sciences has launched the STEM Women Database.

Some fabulous Women in Mathematics have created profiles.

We encourage all women in mathematics to make a profile on STEM Women.

The prize will be awarded biennially for exceptional contributions to the mathematical sciences by a mid-career mathematician. Nominations for the inaugural Mirzakhani Prize are due by October 7, 2019.

EVENTS

WIMSIG Business Meeting and Dinner

The WIMSIG Women in Mathematical Sciences Dinner will be held on Monday 2 December as part of the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Australian Mathematical Society at Monash University.

The event is free to all participants of the AustMS meeting, regardless of gender or membership of WIMSIG. The purpose of the dinner is to support women, and particularly early career researchers, to enter and establish careers in mathematics. Come along to hear about the careers of the AustMS 2019 female plenary speakers, to discuss issues concerning women in mathematics in Australia, and to network with fellow WIMSIG members and supporters.

The annual WIMSIG Business Meeting will also be held on Monday 2 December, just prior to the Women in Mathematical Sciences Dinner. As with the Dinner, anyone interested in WIMSIG activities is welcome to attend.
